解析：1. was built 考查被动语态。西安城墙过去被修建，而不是现在被修建，所以要用一般过去时的被
动语态was built。
2. in in用在某个年代、某个世纪之前；文中出现唐朝，表年代，所以用介词in。
3. to walk 考查固定句型It is + adj. + to do sth.，所以用to walk。
4. spending 介词after后跟动词-ing形式，所以用spending。
